A non-domiciled resident living on investments
€80,000 of dividends and €10,000 of interest a year, no salary.
Checked on 25 September 2026
The case
Someone who lives in Cyprus on investments: €80,000 of dividends and €10,000 of bank interest a year, no salary. Tax resident in Cyprus, but not domiciled here.
What to notice
- Dividends and interest are exempt from income tax. For a non-domiciled resident they carry no defence contribution either; what remains is GESY at 2.65%, €2,385 a year.
- The 2026 reform changes nothing here: the bands never reach this income, and the non-dom position already keeps it out of the defence contribution.
